The Christian Authorship Survey

In preparation for writing Christian AUTHORSHIP: Mastering the Business of Writing, I conducted a survey about Christian Authorship. My goal was to survey 50 Christian writers and 52 contributed their valuable feedback to the survey. There were five multiple choice questions and five essay questions. See the sample Christian Authorship Survey below. On the next few pages there are five graphs that show the responses to the multiple choice questions. On the following pages are snapshots of the responses to the essay questions. The feedback on the survey acts a barometer for the modern day scribe’s perception of their role as a Christian writer.

Before we start, let’s take a moment to look at the definition of a term used more frequently for a modern day scribe: author.

An author is defined by Merriam-Webster's Learner's Dictionary as …

: a person who has written something; especially: a person who has written a book or who writes many books

: a person who starts or creates something (such as a plan or idea)

My definition is an author is someone who practices authorship. Authorship is defined by Merriam-Webster’s Learner’s Dictionary as …

the identity of the person who has written something

: the job or profession of writing

An author who practices authorship must master the business side of writing in order to be successful in the modern world. The business of writing is defined as AUTHORSHIP.

Now here’s the survey!
