The Christian Writer's Mandate
Can a Christian writer be a tool for Kingdom building with their pen? Absolutely! As the prophets, psalmists, and apostles wrote the living word of God, so must you. If you are a Christian and have been commissioned for service by Jesus, then you must surrender your pen to that purpose. Let’s take a look at the Great Commission:
“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:16 – 20 NIV)
The qualifiers are:
You must first be a disciple of Jesus,
Have an ear to hear Jesus’ voice and a heart to follow Him,
Accept your authority in Him,
Be willing to equip others to serve Him,
And maintain a continuous relationship with Christ forever.
If you notice, Christ does the equipping. When Jesus called the apostles, they were common men with ordinary skills. They were not the elite or recognized religious leaders of their time but men and women who witnessed and experienced His love and were enamored by its limitless power. Love drew them, captured them, compelled them, and kept them in the faith.
So shall it be with you. You have the unique responsibility of bringing the written testimonies of His glorious love to the modern day electronic parchment of our age and do it in His authority. Informing, educating, and inspiring others to walk in the fullness of their calling.
Happy Writing, Sharon
